Antique Show Bounty 

As Promised....

Here is the bounty from the antique show last weekend. Starting from the top left there are two lace curtains, a crocheted basket, a 70's toy turtle on top and some brooches, a shoebox full of vintage lace, two bags of colorful crocheted flowers and other motifs, A stack of mint condition 70's kitchen towels with citrus and other fruit motifs - please note the towels in the bottom right corner, if they don't say "Rick Rack Ruby" then I don't know what does!, a stack of silk scarves ( two Veras), three vintage Eiffel Tower postcards, more brooches and in the bottom left corner a mint condition lingerie set with garters, a powder puff, and hanky holder. The lid of the box is gorgeous too.

So, you can see I have a fondness for vintage textiles...but since none of this is strictly fabric yardage - I haven't broken my resolution, right?

I've been collecting these pretty lavender and orchid-colored ties for a while. Finally I had enough for this skirt. The stitching and the zipper are purple. When Ryan arrived in her pink tank - I knew I had my model!

Project Runway

Okay, I admit it. I watch Project Runway on Bravo. I love it! The personalities of the designers are great and it's always fun to see what they are going to come up with. Each week they eliminate another designer. They started with twelve and now I think they are down to seven. Is anyone else watching this? Who do you like? I like Austin, Jay, and Kara Saun. They are all good though - these are just the most entertaining and talented - in my humble opinion. Anyone else?

Resolution Update

Here we are, halfway through January and I'd like to report that so far, I have purchased NO fabric. It hasn't been too hard....until yesterday....

I went to an antique show - a big one - with lots of textiles. There was a dealer there with tons and tons of vintage fabrics. All sorts - great prices - top quality. I pawed, I stroked, I even sniffed - but I didn't buy. I reminded myself of all the great fabrics I already have at home. Fabrics I have great intentions for.... Fabrics overflowing my shelves.... I don't need any more... I don't need any more....

I did purchase a couple of things. Details to follow....

AZ Craftsters Meet Again 

AZ Craftsters Meet Again

Yes, the AZ Craftsters met again on Saturday. Bonnie very patiently taught Kaitlin and I our first "casting on" and even our first row of knitting. Meanwhile, Chris taught Denise "her way" of knitting. Then the two new lightning-fast knitting fiends arrived - Stephanie and Amy. These girls clearly have black belts in knitting. Not to be outdone, Bonnie gave us up and started a new project of her own. Kaitlin and I struggled slowly while sparks flew from the needles of these champions. Oh dear, Bonnie didn't have any "stitch markers" (whatever those are) but Amy pulled out some stitch markers that she had designed with miniature polymer clay sushi charms......


.....I thought they were earrings.....

Anyway, I am put to shame by these talented girls. Maybe, I'll just have to heft my Bernina to the next meeting and demonstrate my sewing prowess. Thanks to Amy for this photo. Are we cute or what?
